UPCARING project launch
Next 15th and 16th December, at Scienter, Bologna, a new Lifelong Learning project will be launched, UPCARING, funded within the Leonardo da Vinci 2011 Programme, under the responsibility of IRS - Istituto per la Ricerca Sociale, and the coordination of Scienter Italy.
The project aims to define a European professional profile for the social home care provider, identifying at the same time an integrated system for: the recognition of competences (however acquired), the upgrading and training of the caregiver (in as much as possible flexible and innovative modalities), and a demand/supply matching system.
The project, implemented in partnership with the Edinburgh University, the Magnus University from Kaunas, Lithuania, FeSALUD from Malaga, Scienter Spain and Cofora, a Dutch partner leader in the validation of prior learning, will have 2 year duration. Beside developing concrete tools to facilitate the work of the practitioners of the sector, Upcaring aims to improve the labour market access conditions for the professional care givers and, as a consequence, their better integration in society while also aiming at offering the families in need better guarantees of quality and transparency with respect to the competences required.
