ACCESS

ACCESS aims at strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions from Europe and South East Asia in a long-term and sustainable perspective. ACCESS explores the perceptions and expectations of SEA higher education students, academics and decision makers towards European HE system and promotes meaningful higher education partnership schemes, both at the level of policy and academic dialogue.

Name of the project:
Academic Cooperation Europe South-east-asia Support

Project Profile:
ACCESS intends to increase attractiveness of EU Higher Education towards SEA by facilitating and supporting mutual knowledge and information sharing in a collaboration perspective, following the slogan "promote through partnership and mutual-benefit value proposition".

In order to achieve this aim, ACCESS will:

  • carry on an extensive survey on the whole of SEA to understand the opinions and expectations of SEA HE stakeholders and students towards European HE and towards the idea of creating a common EU-SEA HE area (survey component);
  • promote the attractiveness of European HE through the development of a webportal on EU-SEA HE cooperation, through the dissemination of best practices of SEA students experiences in Europe and though the celebration of three promotion and partnership-build events in Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia (promotion component);
  • contribute to the policy debate on the possibility to foster EU-SEA cooperation by producing a White  Paper on the theme and by involving EU and regional SEA stakeholders in the ongoing dialogue set up by the project  (policy dialogue component);
  • set up and validate a network-based service model, based on a web portal, to support EU-SEA HE cooperation and mobility in a sustainable perspective (services component).

ACCESS will produce an engine which, systematically consulting relevant stakeholders, aims at promoting long-lasting partnerships/networks/agreements between EU and South-East Asian universities not only in terms of students mobility but also in terms of research collaboration, development of joint learning actions addressing students from and international perspective, curriculum and joint titles developments.
