Learnovation
LEARNOVATION aims at stimulating a consensus-based definition of a new and broader vision of technology-enhanced learning, centred on its potential for innovation and lifelong learning implementation across Europe.
The LEARNOVATION project aims to stimulate a process, at the EU level as well as at the level of the Member States, leading to a collective and consensus-based definition of a new vision of eLearning (or technology-enhanced learning) in Europe, able to inspire the full exploitation of its potential to implement lifelong learning strategies and to support innovation in Europe, also beyond the borders of education and training systems. The project will also provide valuable inputs to new learning public policies that rely on embedded - invisible - technologies to boost learning effectiveness, reach and productivity.
Specifically LEARNOVATION objectives include:
- To explore, analyse and document emerging innovation paradigms in all eLearning areas of application - the so called "eLearning territories" (within and outside EU Programmes, within and outside formal education institutions) and to produce 12 Thematic Reports;
- To relate the use of ICT for learning (actual and potential) to policy priorities in the field of lifelong learning (e.g. Education 2010, frameworks of indicators and benchmarks) but also in a broader perspective (New Lisbon, Innovation, i2010, Research Agenda, Competitiveness and Cohesiveness of the knowledge society);
- to develop a consensus-based new articulated vision of eLearning, linked to innovation paradigms and taking into account the differentiation dimension of the "eLearning territories", by involving all EU and national actors categories that might contribute to the process - through EU and national discussion seminars and web collaboration work;
- To design and activate a foresight capacity on future use of ICT to support learning processes in all aspects of European citizens' life and to produce a focussed Foresight Report;
- to propose a set of indicators and a collection and analysis processes able to document achievements of ICT to support learning processes following the LEARNOVATION vision, in view of enhancing the policy making process at EU and at national level;
- To develop a project multiplying effect on different parts of lifelong learning systems and in the broader societal scenario, by actively involving external actors in the organisation of LEARNOVATION seminars in their own environment, guaranteeing a strong cascade effect, also supported by a professional media campaign.
The LEARNOVATION consortium gathers both research leaders in the field of LLL and ICT for learning (such as Scienter, MENON and the Universidad Catolica Portuguesa) and professional awareness raising organisations, such as PAU Education (in charge of the European eLearning portal) and EDEN, the largest European network active in ICT for Lifelong learning themes.
Services by SCIENTER:
Scienter coordinates the research activities of the project. Particularly, it is responsible for the methodological framework and for the analysis of innovation paradigms in learning across different contexts and areas of Lifelong Learning (covering formal, non formal and informal learning). Furthermore, Scienter coordinates the foresight activities on the future of learning. Finally, Scienter is responsible for the project evaluation.
